  • Police is/are?
    Best answer

The word "police" refers to the collective body of law enforcement officers or the organization itself, so it should be used with the plural form of the verb "are." Example "The police are investigating the robbery that occurred last night."

  • How can you best prepare for a job interview or business meeting in English?
    Best answer

My personal tips for any interview/meeting: 1. Demonstrate confidence in your skills rather than knowledge. 2. Employers want to hear WHY you are the right fit and CAN do this job and not so much whether you are qualified enough or not. 3. Acquire excellent communication skills and always work to improve them - this is the most valuable asset to have in any workplace 100% 4. Prepare good questions prior and show genuine interest in the answer. 5. Don't forget to glimpse at least one fully genuine smile with direct eye contact displaying sincerity and that you are thankful for their time.

  • How can you overcome shyness or anxiety when speaking English in front of others?
    Best answer

Saying this from my own experience: practice public speaking, generally. It is not as much about a specific language, but confidence in your rhetorical skills. There was nothing more terrifying throughout all of my education than speaking in front of other people. Did not matter how many of them. I was not able to overcome this fear until University level classes required of me to speak with confidence about my projects or research. To overcome this extreme fear of uttering a single word on a public forum with English being my second language, I started taking opportunities to speak instead of hiding. This was the only way to start speaking freely, while thinking about my next words without anxiety.
