- What is the verb tense or sentence structure you struggle the most with?
Hey beloved students, Let us know what you struggle the most with in terms of verb tenses and sentence construction. You do not need to use the terminology - simple present, simple past, present perfect, past perfect, passive voice, subordinated sentences, conditionals etc etc etc. Leave that for us, teachers -, you can answer by giving us an example. Looking forward to hearing from you guys. Teachers/Tutors, You're more than welcome to tell us from your experience what you believe your students struggle the most with. Roddy

Hi Aris, Phrases and clauses are some of the divisions which a sentence consists of. They both are group of words which functions together in a sentence, in order to give the reader information, quality, time perspective, action(verb) in a sentence. Sentence: Rodrigo, my brazilian ESL tutor, is from Brazil. Clause: Rodrigo(subject) is(verb) from Brazil(predicate) phrase: my brazilian ESL tutor. A phrase never stands up on its own - they give extra information about the subject but it doesn't make up for a sentence. Roddy

Start test- Controversial as it may be, here we go: Is shadowing indeed effective?
Students have been crazy about the so-called shadowing technique. I myself particularly feel quite skeptical about it and keep asking myself: What's gonna happen if students believe by repeating sentences is the way to master a new language? Where will coherence, cohesion and complex sentence structures stand at?

My English language students are most anxious about pronunciation and speaking. To help them overcome these fears, I incorporate various speaking activities in every lesson. These activities include role-plays, discussions, debates, and presentations. I also provide feedback and correction on their pronunciation during speaking tasks and offer tips on how to improve specific sounds or intonation patterns. Additionally, I encourage my students to practice speaking outside of the classroom through language exchange programs or conversation partners. Regular exposure to the language and opportunities for speaking practice help build their confidence and improve their overall communication skills:)

I strongly disagree. It's far better to be secure in yourself and derive motivation from the desire to be even better and in turn have a better life in general. I say be secure in yourself, feed the healthy human desire for development.
- Are Present and Past Perfect skeletons in your closet? We have got to get them out of there!
Some of my fellow brazilian students have a very hard time using Present and Past Perfect properly - it goes without saying that when it is "continous" it gets even trickier for them. As a Brazilian, I do recognize this has lots do with their mother tongue not having anything similar - even worse, if they get a shot at translating it, it sounds horrible in Portuguese. My strategy along all these years dealing and teaching English HAS BEEN towards showing them that the key element to understand and use the aforementioned verb tenses is to understand their application some determining factors in a sentence that indicate the use of Present / Past Perfect. 1) I have been teaching FOR OVER 5 years 2) I'd just gotten home WHEN you called me (just // when - one action happening before the other) the list goes on and on and on. Food for thought: What is the sentence structure you struggle the most with?

I have tried using AI during and prepping for English lessons and I can quite safely say that it is very overrated. In my opinion the end result is that the student learns a homogenized English, something that will almost certainly evolve into a monstrosity akin to George Orwell's 1984 Newspeak. AI will stifle teacher creativity, allowing lessons to become bland, extremely tedious and almost soul destroyingly dull for the student to sit through! It will also make the teacher lazy. Rather be creative with your thinking to tailor make your lessons for each of your students. Rather have highly motivated students who will be able to use the Language of Shakespeare in the same way that the "Great Bard" did, than to have humourless, beige language that has no colour or vibrancy to it.
