    Best answer

OK I finally figured out the question which should have been: What do you mean by this question and is it grammatically correct? What do you do now? OK, this question is grammatically correct and it's out of context so I will put that straight. "I quit my job as a bus driver." "Oh, really?" "What do you do now?" In this case What do you do now? refers to your job (as in "What do you do for a living?)

    For students

    Best answer

The answers given by others are great pointers. It is also worth remembering that written English and spoken English can be very different. It all depends on context.
