To communicate with locals in Morocco on a basic level, you should focus on learning Darija, the Moroccan Arabic dialect. It is the most widely spoken language in Morocco for daily communication. (Darija) phrases for daily use: Greetings and Basics: Hello: Salam (سلام) How are you?: Kif dayer? (كيف داير؟) [to a man] / Kif dayra? (كيف دايرة؟) [to a woman] I’m fine, thank you: Labas, shukran (لاباس، شكرا) Good morning: Sbah lkhir (صباح الخير) Good evening: Msa lkhir (مساء الخير) Goodbye: Bslama (بسلامة) Politeness: Please: Afak (عفاك) Thank you: Shukran (شكرا) Excuse me / Sorry: Smah liya (سمح ليا) Everyday Questions: What is your name?: Shno smiytek? (شنو سميتك؟) My name is...: Smiti... (سميتي...) Where is...?: Fin kayn...? (فين كاين...؟) How much is this?: Shhal hadi? (شحال هادي؟) Do you speak English?: Kat-hdr l-ingleeziya? (كتْهدر الإنجليزية؟) Practical Phrases: I don’t understand: Ma fhemtsh (ما فهمتش) I need help: Khassni
