I once had an adult student that did not know any word of English, surprisingly just after a week with me, she understood basic words and a few sentences, I can say she was a fast learner.
The most significant challenge I encounter in mastering English is fluency. While I can understand and write English fairly well, speaking fluently and confidently remains a challenge.
I had a student with speach impediment, she was learning English level A1, and we were doing a tongue twister to work on the linking, I bet her a whole box of donuts of any kind if she you 1- Eat a whole donut without liking her lips and 2- inmediatly after swallowing say the tongue twister... AND SHE DID!!! I was soooo happy for her, I sent her delivery donuts from local bakery webpage in her country. It was a blast!

Start testOne memorable moment was with a five year old girl who barely spoke any English. I introduced a puppet to the student and the puppet made silly mistakes and the little found it hilarious and began correcting the puppet, which in turn helped her learn and pratice the words out loud. It was such an exciting and memorable time for me because the little girl began to speak to me and enjoyed learning the English language with me.
I have one student that couldn't speak a word of English when I started tutoring him, and the joy on his face whenever he understood and got his words and tasks correct!
Wow! That's a good question, got me thinking for a while. There have been plenty of occasions when the student stepped over the speaking barrier (let's not lie, that is the goal). But my most memorable has to be the lesson when my student himself concluded in awe "Wow, I just spoke this whole time". (it was a 50-minute lesson) (and yes, he did speak for the whole lesson without any struggle, which awed me as well since it came out of the blue)
One of my students got very excited when I helped them understand a few new words
One of the most breathtaking moments I had was when a student, who had been too shy to speak English outside the classroom, surprised me by speaking confidently during a real-life situation.
