I would recommend you read a few pages of a book and then summarise it out loud. This will help you concentrate on what you are reading. You can also record your summary, listen to it and correct your own mistakes.
Watch tv series in English and have the subtitles on so that you can hear and read the words. You can also get audio books in English and listen to them
Just make sure you are in touch with the language as often as possible in as many ways as you can afford, best on a daily basis. Read news in English. Listen to stuff in English. Talk to people in English if you've got an opportunity and don't worry if it's not perfect. No one cares for as long as you get by.
Watch Podcast, read books and dictionary and also talk to yourself with it.
I've had many friends tell me watching the classic TV show "Friends" worked best for them. Most other sitcom TV shows are good as well. I don't recommend movies, as the dialog often isn't clear and can have frequent slang.
Watch English programs on TV. They do assist a lot, that’s how I learned Mandarin
