Reading comprehension. This had been one of my most valued way to teach Intermediate students vocabulary. In these Paragraphs they will come across new vocabulary words.

I normally use authentic materials: Select news articles, podcasts, or videos aligned with the student’s interests. Highlight new vocabulary in context and discuss meaning and usage.

Find topics they are interested in and look for the video, listening or reading material to grasp their attention, help them focus on the relevant vocabulary and eventually make them speak using it
I think the use of authentic material is very important . Make use of news articles, short stories, movie clips to expose them to vocabulary context . Also use real-life examples, connect new words to real-life situations and life expiriences . This will help them gasp the new vocabulary faster.
A game that I play with my students that helps a lot with vocabulary is where you have different categories like food, animals, sports, cities/countries (or whichever category you would like) we then choose a letter from the alphabet and they have to write down an answer using that letter for each category it will look something like this: Sport- Tennis, Food- Tacos, Animal- Tiger etc. This is a really fun game and it also helps them building their vocabulary and to think in English, hope this helps! Ps. I play the game with my students, it is always fun to see the different answers!

This has been one of the challenges I personally struggled with when I first started teaching online. First of all, its vital to know your students, mostly kids. Know what they like and try by all means to direct lessons towards the topics that they enjoy the most. But its still possible that a child might be bored even though you have selected a topic they like. So in this case I use visuals a lot. I mean children learn most with their eyes. I normally start off by lessons with song videos to awaken their interest and excitement for learning
