Use Simple Language.Speak slowly and clearly, using basic words and short sentences. Avoid complex grammar or idioms. Pictures, gestures, and objects can help explain words and actions.
Visual aids are a good way to start, show them what you are talking about. Prepare lessons that starts with the basics. Listening activities. Have conversations with them so that they can feel comfortable and become confident in speaking English. Speak in a slow pace so that the student can hear how you articulate your words and ask them to repeat some of the words after you. Reading activities also help a beginner. This way they learn new words and learn how to pronounce words.

I would still try to speak English from the beginning but using simpler words, gestures and graphics.
Patience and encouragement are crucial. Building trust and confidence will make the learning journey enjoyable and effective.
Strat and lead the conversation using visuals, body language and have simple dialogue reading practice with each other. After a few sessions you'll see the student is understanding you. then you can go deeper into the topics.

I don’t fully understand what you mean by “get attached”. However, during school breaks a teacher might share a few learning tips and provide a few extra exercises aimed to boost fluency or any other area that the student needs to work on. I personally make myself available to learners at anytime providing that they’re willing to pull their weight.
