In Puerto Rico we call them mahones. Pronounced mā-o-nez. Pantalones we use for pants in general. I visited Spain and they had no clue as to what I meant by mahones. "Was looking for a short pair of jeans." Once I said that they are blue and very casual, they blurted out "vaqueros!" So in response to "what are you looking for" your answer would be "unos vaqueros". Seeing as Spain spanish is our mother language, the most correct answer is vaqueros.

In Mexico we call them: Pantalones de mezclilla, but we use jeans as well.
Al estar hablando de más de un jean, o pantalón, debes usar el plural diciendo "pantalones"

It really depends on the country. In Dominican Republic, we call them "jeans." Other countries refer to them as "pantalones," "vaqueros," etc. in the DR, to say: "I bought a pair of jeans," we would say: "Compré unos jeans." Hope it helps!

actualmente, es una palabra de ingles, asi que se usa solo la palabra "los blue jeans"
Para más de dos lo correcto es pantalones, pantalón se usa para uno solo
