One of the best way to improve these skills is to learn something new in a foreign language. Like, you always wanted to learn how to play chess. So, try to study it in the language you are learning, by watching tutorials and reading materials and etc. It is very helpful

Discuss topics about society and let them speak. Just listen to them. Mention, for instance, a racist incident and ask them what they are thinking about it, how people should have reacted, and how they would have reacted. Last but not least, what should we do or what society should do so phenomena like that stop happening.

i think the best way is to provide a little bit knowledge about a particular topic and then ask students what do they think about the knowledge that they have just received.. Ask open ended questions and ask reasons for students answers..

I prefer to use business, economic, international business, legal, technical/engineering and other NYTimes, CNN and USA Today articles to stimulate student's critical thinking from strategies used in the articles. I would love to discuss this with you in more detail.
