Finite verbs are those verbs that agree with the subject and express the mood, tense, number and person. Eg Present: I am singing. Past: She was eating. Future: They will dance. Present perfect: We have been playing. Past perfect: You had gone. Future perfect: We will have been singing. On the other hand, non-finite verbs do not agree with the subject and can be used in the present participle, past participle or infinitive forms to perform different functions in a sentence. Eg (to go, go), -ing forms and -ed forms (e.g. going, gone):

I like to check in with my students about how they’ve been since our last class. This not only gives us a chance to practice small talk but also allows me to tailor the session to their individual experiences. E.g. Before we jump into today’s lesson, how was your weekend?
