Hi and Merry Christmas! It's very important to avoid unnecessary points and deliberately overlook some of the minor mistakes of the students which are not the subject of the current lesson. Instead of correcting, I suggest using a simpler version where that mistake is absent and focusing only on the subject of the lesson. Students tend to lose all hope when they are working on A and see they also have mistakes on B. This was a damage control tip :) As for making the class exciting, I suggest all tutors keep the conversations around the students' favorite topics and interests.

I like to check in with my students about how theyโve been since our last class. This not only gives us a chance to practice small talk but also allows me to tailor the session to their individual experiences. E.g. Before we jump into todayโs lesson, how was your weekend?
