It would be based on the students language goal and indirectly the assessments must strengthen their area of difficulty.
I create assesments that are suitable for the learner. They must be the right level, so the learner can understand what is being asked of them. The assessement should cover work that has been taught during classes, unless it is to test prior knowledge. I also adapt my assessments to suit the individual learning style too.
Hello, Generally speaking, I always try to use standardized assessments. There is a lot to say about creating an assessment that we learned in the University for its related subject. It's really time-consuming, so if it's OK use ready standardized assessments.

Since assessments let learners being informed about their performance, creating a good assessment is really important. Not only it gives students motivation but also helps them make up their mistakes
Frankly speaking I am not keen on grammar test because people might cheat and it won't show you the genuine result. So imho the best way to asses person is to speak and identify their level
My approach in creating assessment is based on the child's understand. I assess first the things they understood so that they can be comfortable.
