When we cant speak English, small talk is very difficult.

Dominic, not sure if I'd call it a fault. I personally find small talks so effective to teach students real-life vocabulary, sentence structure and etc.... They learn smoothly, spontaneously, they don't even notice and they are using it correctly. It is organic. I also love small talk and use a lot in my classes. 

As a Tutor: If I have at least one fault, it's that I like small talk too much. You get to learn so much about a student, and really understand why they are learning English. And this really helps focus lessons on subjects and topics they Enjoy. Often when the timer runs out both me and the student are disappointed or surprised lol
