Teaching should be fun and relevant. It's important to me that classes are relaxed, but focused. Nearly all of my lesson materials are custom made for my students. This helps us make very fast progress.
My CV is a little colourful!
My BA is in Theology, from Kings College, University of London,
My Master is in Film from Middlesex University, also the University of London.
My TEFL120hour Certification, is from TheTEFL.org
As side hustle: Filmmaking.
For about 15 years I worked in the world of Corporate Communications and Public Relations. This involved a huge amount of research, writing and communicating at a senior level.
Like many, I've also spent time in hospitality, as a chauffeur, a security officer and a fraud investigator. Many of these roles were whilst I was studying, or on career holidays.
I Have volunteered in connection with young people, mental health, community safety and issues around prejudice.
Former Champion Powerlifter. Kung Fu Teacher
Based on my Corporate background, I have a huge interest in helping people develop their CVs/Resumes and interview techniques. This becomes more of a mentoring relationship. The essence is to help my clients to both understand and then express their own professional stories in a compelling and meaningful way. I aIm to give a little light of hope to the miserable world of job hunting/career development. I have, and do, work with senior staff and leaders - business, academic and NGO.
I've been involved with many local and a few national charities, often focussed on mental well-being and the needs of young people.
If you have any special needs, or are involved in these fields, then I'm extra very happy to work with you!
If you are dyslexic or have particular learning needs you'll get nothing but support from me.
If you're super ambitious and have a plan, then Game On, let's get to work. :)
All language skills over-lap. If you learn grammar to talk about a hobby it's easier to use that same grammar at work, with friends, or your family. It's the same with vocabulary.
Conversation is a great way to build confidence. Then we grow to include novels, short stories, articles and journalism. Nothing is out of bounds - as long as it is well written.
When you're ready and willing, you can also write reports and short texts. Here I become your editor: your words, your ideas and my feedback. This is a lot of fun, and you create a portfolio of your own writing!
Whatever you reason to learn, remember that any English you learn is valuable and useful so long as it has a purpose.
I look forward to working with you :)
