As an online language teacher, I find both role-play and games to be valuable in my lessons. While I appreciate the practicality of role plays for language application, I also enjoy incorporating interactive games to keep the learning experience fun and engaging. By combining both approaches, I aim to provide a balanced and personalized learning environment for my students. :)
I like playing various different games with my students such as hangman and naughts and crosses that's if they have done a good job throughout the lesson. But when we are going through the lesson to make the students focused I do like playing role playing games.
It all depends on your student's level just make sure you don't try to include all of the above suggestions in one class. If you follow the PPP after introducing the material then having a individual exercise ( role playing or games) and finally let them reproduce in their own words what they learned.

Start testMy students on this app have been at higher levels of fluency, so we have done free talking and article reading with emphasis on comprehension and opinion building. On other platforms I have some beginner students where we use a more structured lesson plan with vocabulary, role play, and free talking while describing pictures using the grammar and vocabulary we had just learned.
I find value in warm up games as it sets the tone for my lessons and the students can ease into the lesson plan. Everyone enjoys and deserves to have some fun!
