I have my students use a set amount of new vocabulary words to create and tell a story. This not only encourages creativity but also allows them to practice using the words in context, enhancing retention:)

  • Here are som activities that help my students: 1) 5 min words Quiz at the beginning of every lesson. 2) Ask student to name 5 new words, that he/she has learnt at the end of each lesson. 3) Encourage students to write a Vocabulary Journal with new words and examples in the sentences. 4) Retell what was the text about after the reading activity.

  • I love mind maps to help with rapid recall.

  • I use flashcards, images and explanation. I like giving examples. I use examples, which are relevant to my students' daily life.

  • My students and I read about what interests them, ideally their favorite book. To begin with, you can start with interesting facts about the book or best moments from it, over time, more serious passages.
