During a lesson, a teacher can pick up a student to give answers. In this way, I can find out if the student is paying attention or whether he understands the question. If he gives the wrong answer it is alright. I usually do not say that he is incorrect. I just say "can consider that, but there a more accurate answer" In this way, the student does not get embarrassed.
Immediately correcting the student is highly important. It makes the student not to forget easily.

Yes, it is. Continuous assessment should be done by teachers to find out what the learners know and what information they still need.
Yes 🙌 Absolutely!💯 It is important to assess the learner during the lesson to check for understanding. So that you can help them do better and see how you can explain the concepts better. Sometimes there is a better way of explaining the concept to them. Also, I think you should have a system for offering assessment and corrections. In that way, the student will not be startled when you assess them.
