Try not to see them as challenges but rather as opportunities. Once you make this mindset change you will start to see opportunities to improve your language skills all around you.

  • definitely your reason for learning the language and remind yourself often to stay inspired.😀

  • This can be very difficult actually and the answer is, I don't always maintain the motivation. I take breaks and then come back to it. But also, I try to create activities where I can use my new language, such as travel and do activities in that language.

  • I encourage students to ask questions when they are in doubt. I make them read and help them in the pronunciation of a difficult word. I also explain the meaning in simple terms. There's is a game or quiz at the end of the lesson.

  • I ancourage my students to suggest topics that ther have interest, this way you can go back and forth and keep lessons interesting and motivating, sometimes, students just want to speak, be accommodating and you woll keep lessons highly motivated

  • Try to motivate yourself by setting short-term goals. For example choose a simple movie and watch it every two weeks while your are productively learning in this period and compare how much more you can get in comparison with the first time you watched it. Or every month write about a specific topic and compare the last one with the first one to see how you have progressed.

I look for new content that's interesting to me and that's in the language I'm learning. For instance: I'm a Cuban salsa dancer/teacher and there's a lot of books on Cuban salsa written in Spanish only, so this is a great motivator for me to learn the language. Another way to motivate myself is to sit down, look at the path I've already walked and acknowledge it to myself, e.g. "Paul, you've really become better compared to last month!". We often find ourselves grinding, nose down, not seeing anything around. Looking up every now and then and assessing the progress is a great way to boost motivation naturally. If we see that something's working, we obviously want to do more of it - the tricky thing is to remember to acknowledge that it's working.

  • Set specific and achievable goals, break them down into smaller tasks, reward yourself for progress, seek out sources of inspiration and accountability, and remind yourself of the reasons why you started learning the language in the first place :)

  • You have to set achievable goals. Make learning enjoyable by bringing activities in your lesson. Track your progress as well and remind yourself of the reasons why you started learning language in the first place.

  • Stay positive. Embarrass your mistakes. Never be shy to express yourself even if no One understands what you say. Keep trying and ignore and negative or rude comments you may hear from others!
