  • Systematic, instructive and based on real facts about language use

  • Hi tutor. I'd describe my teaching method as direct as I only use the instruction language to engage conversationally with the student. I therefore move on to structural approach to discuss language structures and lexicals.

Garry - I would describe my teaching method as being straight to the point meaning being in a calm and quiet environment free of distraction. A competent teacher should display 3 important qualities that are essential to deliver an effective lesson. First, the passion to teach meaning the teacher should and must love to teach or instruct. Second, the instructor must have empathy, meaning that the teacher must put himsef or hersel in the student shoes in finding an effective an easy way to inculcate the materials in the student's mind using practical examples that match what the student like so can student understand the materials in the lesson. And third, the professor must use TPR (Total Physical Response), meaning using demonstration, and gestures to show the student in practical ways what he or she explaining and repeat himself or herself as many times as he or she can. These are my methods. And I am pretty sure that the student will succeed.

  • I've worked at several different places, and have had contact with several different methods. I don't have a favorite. What I try to do is adapt my method to the student's needs. The other day I had to teach grammar to a girl who needed to brush up on her grammar skills in order to take a proficiency exam. Most of my classes are very conversational, with students who want to have a little chat in order to improve their speaking and listening comprehension skills, so I try the communicative approach.
