As a Brazilian, of course not. But I had this problem when studied spanish and italian. So I decided to focus on spanish first. When I have mastered Spanish well, so I go back to Italian. These three languages are derivated from latin. As well as romanian and french. But these two ones are more different. 

Mixing Italian with Portuguese is very common. The 2 languages are similar and it happens that in the process of learning some words are confused.
