Students get confused due to their close pronunciation.
Quiet is an adjective that means lack of noise. Quite is an adverb used to emphasize. It's easy to misspell the two.
In every language there are words that sound alike. In Chinese, for example, shoe and mouse are the same word, just the tone is different. The character is also different. Also, “the horse way” often sounds like “mothers way” when I say it. Rrrrrrrr

Because of the similarities of the letters, sometimes when you learn a new language with words that are similar in letted your mind gets confused but learners will be better with practice
Yes I agree lots of times, Ive seen people using wrong word. They get confused between these two
Quite simply means of doing something in seldom times. Meanwhile, quiet simply tells to be "silent".
I honestly cannot say why, but I know that they do get confused, including native speakers
