Focus on what the student struggles with most, to ensure that they will grasp and understand it before their exam, but also remember to make time to revise the work they have a good understanding of.
I believe it's best to focus on areas or topics in which both the student and Teacher know questions are likely to be asked after which other areas can also be covered, also going through past questions and answers does help a lot. That way you will be more confident and well prepared to take the exams.

Student should attempt a mock exam so that we can see sudent's strenghts and weaknesses.
I would teach the student ways on how to review effectively and remember the right answers then we will do a short mock exam to see what else needs to be improved on.
The student should attempt a past exam paper in order for the tutor to ascertain what the student still does not know and the knowledge that has been applied in answering several questions correctly.
