Let's imagine that we gave all the riches in the World to a 4-year-old child. It would nonetheless be the wealthiest kid on Earth, but would he/she be able to properly use it? Thinking that grammar is unnecessary leaves you with your vocabulary, even as rich as it could be, you won't be able to construct sentences that are logical and understandable, either in verbal or written form. That's how important grammar is.

As a tutor myself, I usually advise my students to keep learning grammar based on its significance in English language. Sure communication skills are important. Be that as it may, I'd say grammar is as important as communication skills. Thank you all for your answers.
It depends on the students' target. If the goal is to communicate, being a grammar Nazi may do more harm than good. But if the focus is getting a high score in Reading, then it is necessary.

Repeat the words a lot and give a context to it, plus the picture of it. Find synonyms, make the student create sentences using the new vocab and finally of they write down a story using these new words, they won't probably forget about them easily :)
