Visuals are the best it is is remember things and it also give you an idea of what you are learning about
For me it's more engaging if the professor do some fun activities like ice breakers but you still can learn from it.
As a teacher , I prefer teaching, using one of the methods, TTT or MFP but my student may have a very different way of learning, perhaps, pics, YouTube, Realia, etc

It's best to learn something if you approach student with something creative. Its important for you as a teacher to find an interesting way to approach a student
In my opinion teachers should prepare a variety of activities for their learners, students don't like monotonous boring classes.
I opt to utilize the Communicative Approach (1980) with a combination of the Comprehension Approach (1980). It all comes down to spending a lot of time with your target language and practicing it, pretty simple. Btw, there are books on the topic as well

I'm a visual learner. I prefer to read new information, than listen to it. If I hear a new word in Spanish, I need to visualise it, to help me remember it. At school and university, writing information down also helped me to remember it, when revising for exams. Auditory learning is important as well, though. I use a range of methods with my students.
In my way, there is an app where I put all new words with pictures and start learning them This method helps me to enrich my vocabulary, to pronounce correctly the words, to remember them faster and this is funny method, as well
I learn better from a combination of auditory, repetition and hands on experience.
