I don't think that there is such a word as "lier"? Liar obviously is someone who is not telling the truth.

  • Yes, there is a word lier although most people are more familiar with liar. There are so many words in English we learn something every day! Lier means -a person or object that rests in an horizontal position, for example: The book is lier on the table. it also means a person who lies in wait, for example: The soldiers became lier in order to attack the enemy. Liar means- a person who doesn't speak the truth, for example: He is a liar! her told me he was coming, but did not come.

  • The word "lier" literally means someone or something lying in a horizontal position, however; metaphorically speaking it means someone staying put in a certain place for an extended period of time. Example: a nature photographer should be a lier; in order to get a good quality photos. The word "liar" on the other hand; means someone isn't telling the truth. Both words are pronounced the same as so: /ly-er/
