Gossip and rumour are both forms of communication that involves the spreading of information about other people. But here are their differences GOSSIP is a casual or idle talk about people's personal or private affairs. It often involves sharing information that is not necessarily true or verified RUMOUR on the other hand is defined as unverified information or stories spreading rapidly through a community or group of people

  • Both words ammount to the same thing and it is best to stay clear of a rumor and someone that gossips. It is rude and i can describe someone that does both as someone that is uncouth.

  • It can be said that the word "GOSSIP" is mostly used as a verb and the word "RUMOUR" is mostly used as a noun. This causes a funny thing, because when you use the word gossip we usually know who the gossiper is, but when we use the word "rumour" it is rarely known who has done it.

  • Gossip refers to talking about someone or something to another person whereas a rumour refers to spreading specific information that has not being verified.

  • Gossip is pretty much talking about others without a solid evidence whereas Rumors is uncertain News based information. Examples: 1. As soon as Beckie left, they started gossiping about her. 2. Susan is rumored to be the owner of the new restaurant.

  • A rumor is a story or circumstance that is circulating but has not been confirmed as true. Unlike gossip which tends to focus on specific individuals, rumors tend to focus on larger, broader issues and events. Gossip primarily revolves around personal or intimate details about specific people.. where rumors are unverified information that deals with a wider range of topics and spreads more widely.

  • Not much difference, it boils down to the same thing, anyone talking about someone else regardless of good or bad, is just plain down gossip and is also named rumours.
