Whan do we use mother-of-preal?
A weak ago I was watching an animated movie ,on that film a person used it in a surprising situation and I thought he wase saying a relevant for omg but when I ask my english teacher she said it means the thing wich is inside the shell but honestly i didn't persuade.

Hi! Mother-of-pearl is the inside lining of certain kinds of mollusk shells.
We use phrases like 'OMG' and many others in English, so if the character was surprised and said, "Mother of pearl!" in a shocked way, then you were doing a good job of understanding the context of the story! According to urban dictionary .com -" it doesn't mean OMG or awesome, but is used to describe something that freaks you out, blows you away or leaves you with a loss for words!" :D
I think you meant mother of pearl, but the pearls inside shells are a myth im afraid, not true.

To be quite frank with you. mother of pearl is definitely a large pearl inside of the shell , but due to the context it was used in , in the movie, they were using it as a jargon. Just to mean something else, could be a bad expression or a good,
