It depends on your level of exposure. For example, if you go to a new country where you have to use the language daily, you will. If you’re not immersed, it might take more time to be fluent.

  • Yes it is, and you do not need to move to an English speaking country to do so. You can actually be fluent in English in about 6 months or so. The only thing is, you have to be completely committed to doing so, and nothing and absolutely nothing must get in your way. The first thing that must happen is to say goodbye to the "grammar-translate" method of teaching / learning. This method is completely discredited, but many tutors and teachers still use it to teach English. Your tutor must also show you "tough love". Start to listen to podcasts -BUT NOT THE NEWS! Listen to drama podcasts; drama podcasts is real English. Do not use subtitles when watching movies or TV programmes, getting to fluency involves listening, not reading! It will be difficult, almost impossible to begin with, BUT DON'T GIVE UP, IT WILL COME! Like what have just read? Why not book a trial lesson.

  • I want to believe it is possible to learn a new language and become fluent within 12 months but it would require dedication and being intentional about it. It would be quite achievable if you speak the language everyday and immerse yourself in the language as much as you can.

  • Yes, it's possible to become fluent in a new language within 12 months, but it requires hard work and regular practice. You need to study a lot, use different methods like listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and stay motivated. Living in a place where the language is spoken or practicing with native speakers can also help you learn faster. While fluency might not happen for everyone in a year, you can still make huge progress if you put in the effort.

It depends on how much time you put in to learning the language. And remember that practice makes perfect.

  • I would say somebody is being dishonest if they make that claim. Even several hours of classes per day for a year wouldn’t likely get 0-fluent that quickly. The shortest intensive courses I’ve seen function have been 18-24 months.

  • Learning a new language and becoming fluent in 12 month is definitely possible but it requires discipline, consistency and dedication. immersing yourself through daily practice and interacting with native speakers will increase your change of fluency and your learning process.

  • Yes, depending on your investment in learning it and especially practicing it.

  • As I have a year experience working with international students (mostly beginners in English), I think I have a close insight into what it's like to learn a new language and be almost fluent whithin 12 months. Now, I do have to say that all of them were studying English in a school for 15 hours a week + they were working and using their English 24/7. Plus, the students who achieved a B1 level in one year also dedicated their free time to hang out with other international students who could only use English to communicate with. So, all in all, my answer would be YES , it is possible. But, bearing in mind that the only way to achieve that fluency is by investing all your time into learning and using the target language. It's not easy, but it's worth the effort.

  • It is possible. The new language must be spoken on a daily basis. If one does not practice the new language, then he person might forget whatever he or she has learnt.
