When doing comprehension, these are some of the things you can do: 1. Underline words and phrases you do not understand or recognize to go over later. 2. Read the passage or paragraph several times after searching the unfamiliar words or phrases until you fully understand what you are reading. 3. Write down key points from the passage that you believe will be needed in the questions section. 4. Read each question carefully until you understand what the question is asking. 5. Review the key points you wrote down and see if any one answers the question. 6. If the key points don't answer the questions, then go back to the passage and highlight the information needed to answer the questions. 7. Re-read the relevant passage and highlight or underline key phrases and sentences. 3. Break down the question into components and organize your thoughts and supporting evidence. 4. Use your own words( avoid quotes unless necessary). Address all parts of the question and provide context. 5. Try to offer insights into characters' motivations, themes and symbolism. 6.
