As in all the other languages English have an extended vocabulary and you don't have to worry about how many words are there cause you can't never learn each and every one of them

I think what really interests you is how many words you can get by with. I once read that an uneducated native English speaker uses around 800 words daily. How true that is, I can't say. Never counted them myself. I am simply selling it as I bought it. 800 words probably don't make for a stellar chat buddy, but obviously they serve the purpose. And then, of course, the better the education, the wider the vocabulary. And the deeper and more complex the conversation. Or discussion.

Start testI had to do a bit of research for this question and I found that there are 6000 000 words in the English language defined by the Oxford English Dictionary. However some words are considered to be archaic, meaning expressions that are no longer used in English today.

Hi Ibrahim, its really hard to tell, with every new year the dictionary is increased with the integration of new vocabulary and slangs. It is an ever changing thing that will probably continue long into the future. With new inventions and slangs evolving it is exciting to see the language evolve and change with the times. It depends. If you take every different definition as being a word, then English has approximately 1,400,000 (one million four hundred thousand) words. In addition, there are just over 47,000 other words that are considered "obsolete", i.e. they are hardly or never used.
