There is only one way to prepare for the IELTSlistening test and that is to listen to as much as you can. We stoplistening when we are about 12 years old. So we have tolearn how to listen again. There are various ways to do this in the classroom, but the student must also put in an effort outside lesson time. listen to podcasts, as many as you can, but DO NOT listen to any news podcasts. Why? Because you are liistening to a newsreader... you are listening to written English.... you need to listen to SPOKEN English. You must listen to spoken English EVERY DAY. If you make the effort, you will see a marked improvement in about three weeks.... BUT YOU HAVE TO LISTEN!
Listening different podcasts and speakers with different topics increase our vocabulary and enhance our listening skills. Listening practice with consistency and vigilance makes us familiar with the way to connect sentences and understanding to communicate each other.
According to Francis Bacon, "Practice Make a man perfect". So, practice listing to things. Don't loose your concentration, familiar yourself with different accents and lastly follow the instructions carefully.
