Speaking from personal experience, as someone who travels a lot. My travels made me a better person. How? With years I realized that regardless of race, religious affiliation or nationality deep down we are all the same. We all cry and laugh for the same things. My travels made me completely colour blind. And of course, to travel - and to be able to communicate with people along the way - you need languages. The more the better. A new language gives you a better insight into a culture you didn't encounter before. No Wikipedia can ever match that.

  • In my opinion, English is widely learned as a second language because we can use it as a 'bridging' language between people from English and non-English speaking countries as a way to communicate with different people from all over the world. One should never lose their passion for their first language, and I definitely don't think there should be just 1 language in the world. But to get the opportunity to speak with a German or Hungarian person that knows English and so do you... That's a wonderful advantage.

  • Learning a second, third or fourth language can have many benefits for your personal and professional life. some of the benefits are: It stimulates your brain and improves your cognitive abilities. Learning a new language challenges your brain to learn new rules, patterns and vocabulary, which can increase the size and function of your brain regions. It can also delay the onset of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. It saves precious time and resources. Learning multiple languages at once can help you achieve your goals faster and more efficiently. You can take advantage of the similarities and differences between languages to learn them more easily and effectively. It enhances your communication and interpersonal skills. Learning a new language allows you to communicate with more people from different cultures and backgrounds. You can also develop a better understanding of your own language and how it works.

  • I think it depends on personal interests, maybe they want to learn English to travel, maybe it's a matter of work or maybe just because, everyone has a reason to learn and I think is awesome to try to learn English.

  • I lived in 23 countries my whole life, I learned the language to honor the culture I was placed in due to my jobs. Also, to pay bills, to buy a phone plan, to speak to people, to buy groceries, to get a job. It depends on each person individually, for me it was survival, and advancement.

  • Hello there Learning new language is so important to make understand how the other person is thinking especially if this person is from other country so you can keep peace with him

  • I think we all have a desire to communicate with each other, the most explicit of which is spoken language. When someone learns another language, it shows that they truly care; they want to make the effort to understand something/someone different from what is familiar. Having proficiency in many languages is admirable, and it allows you to learn from and relate to the people around you, no matter where you come from and where you go. I'm not sure if it contributes to peace on the globe because the knowledge of multiple language allows someone to share their beliefs and perspectives with people of other cultures, which may sometimes cause controversy or disagreement. However, I think that sharing our differences is inherently beautiful and can eventually help us to realize that, in fact, we are all quite the same.

  • Because,,,,,, You can choose to remain ordinary or choose to stand out, byr learning several languages you already stand out.

  • It is absolutely important to learn new languages and for many reasons. I'll mention a few (but this isn't anywhere near a complete list): 1. Learning new languages creates neurons in the part of the brain that deals with language. It helps to maintain a healthy brain and make a person better able to think and concentrate. 2. Learning new languages makes it easier to identify with language students (if you're a teacher). This makes a teacher more patient and understanding. For non-teachers, it will make your more confident. 3. Learning new languages makes a person more aware of the differences between the new language and their native language; as a result, a person becomes more aware of their own language and more competent at using it. 4. Learning a new language makes a person more aware of other cultures and more culturally sensitive and tolerant. People often fear what they don't understand; learning about new things, any things, makes a person less afraid and more tolerant.

  • I totally agree with all of the answers given and just would like to add something in order to motivate you - every next language will be easier for you to learn and if it is from a language family you are already familiar with - even more. So I promise, it will get even more interesting.

  • Well, firstly, since a language is actuslly a part of a nation's culture, learning new languages opens new windows into different worlds and by learning new languages you actually learn new cultures which means gaining new identities and new perspectives into the world. On the other hand, the more languages you learn the less your nationalist spirit gets grown, so the less prejudice you may feel toward your own language and this is actually the best thing in our today's racist world. And, I think there is no need to mention how useful learning new languages is for your brain ability and also how it can be effective in your educational and prpfessional life. So, as you see, it can be beneficual both in personal and social perspective. Stay with love.
