Thank you Sarah. I am just mad at myself because it was my first student, I will take your advice.

  • 1. Always communicate to students prior to missing the lesson so that they can plan for other activities. 2. Give work for students to do during the time you will be away. 3. Create a cover up class to compensate for time lost.

  • You shouldn't feel badly because your health is important. And I know what wisdom teeth is! I hope you feel yourself much better now!

  • As for me, I missed the lesson because the electricity was turned off. It was not my fault. I just wrote to my student about this situation when it was turned on.

  • Of course I have! Missing a lesson or trial is something that cannot be avoided. The secret to success is not to be emotional about it, but to to do three things: 1) Contact the student as soon as possible, apologise (This the British English spelling) and reschedule the lesson as soon as possible. Remember that you are a teaching professional and your reputation for reliability is very important. 2) Be better organised so that you minimize the risk of it happening again. 3) Learn from your mistake / situation and move on.

  • Thank you Lebogang

  • Do not beat yourself up for that. Try to come up with a new plan for you not to miss a lesson. If something comes on you way to take a lesson, try to reschedule in time. And I see that you mentioned you had go to a doctor. I'm sorry about that. Do not worry, I hope you'll know what to do next time, when you encounter such problems.

  • Thank you so so much Winime Awinbugur Azumah.

  • As unfortunate as that may seem, Melissa, focus on future lessons. It's painful I know, but forgive yourself, and move on. However, set up or put in a mechanism that will always prompt you some minutes before lessons. This way you can even reschedule the lesson in the event that you find yourself faced up with some sort of emergency. It shall be well, try and explain to the student, I am sure he/she will give you another chance. Hope you recover from the pain that comes with removing your wisdom teeth, all the best, Melissa.

  • Thank you so much Rejoice
