Probably the most difficult lesson I have ever had was when the student refused to speak or to use their camera. I had a lesson with Google translate. Utterly pointless! The student would only reply by writing in their own language. After about 15 minutes or so, I told them that I was ending the lesson. It was not only very frustrating, as Google translate is more often wrong than right , but a complete waste of my time as well as theirs. You cannot learn a language without trying to speak. It is also bad manners not to let a tutor see who they are trying to speak to.
I had a young students and whenever I ask something to her she always replied by saying "I don't know" it was really challenging to communicate with her because she didn't want to join the lessons or do anything about it, I understand her as well because her parents was forcing her to do so but still it wasn't very effective
Teaching a student who wanted me to basically translate every single word to their language with little or no effort listening to what I say.

The hardest type of lesson is when parents book for their children who are not interested in English. It can be hard to teach and keep a child who doesn't like English engaged in the lesson at the same time.
As an English teacher, one of the most challenging classes I have encountered was a group of students with different levels of English proficiency. Some could speak quite well, but struggled with writing, while others just understood the basics, it was quite a task trying to balance the needs of everyone. I got creative by breaking lessons and pairing stronger students with those who needed help, but over time, with patience, I started to see progress. They were certainly supportive of each other. It wasn't easy, but it was also a rewarding experience.
