Having lived in India, the US, and China, I’ve been exposed to all kinds of accents. For me, it’s all about context and body language. You just need to focus on listening on what they’re actually saying.
Yeah a bit but not much. IPA chart is always there to help me in all such situations.
Yes, but you only have to hear it once , maybe a second time and you get it.
It happened to me when I was younger, but then I recognized I don't need to worry about accents, it's a plus .

Repeat the words a lot and give a context to it, plus the picture of it. Find synonyms, make the student create sentences using the new vocab and finally of they write down a story using these new words, they won't probably forget about them easily :)
