Ndyana Swainston

Hello! I'm Ndyana and I'm from a multicultural and multilingual family from the UK. I now live in South Africa which has 11 official languages so language is a very big part of my life. I love teaching but I also love learning and I now have 7 qualifications in different fields including Business, Law and recently Film, which is my passion. Film was very important for me to learn growing up, especially language, so it has a large part of my heart. I am a native English speaker with a neutral RP accent, I am fluent in French, and I can also understand small amounts of 4 other languages. When I'm not teaching I work on designs or films, I spend time outdoors climbing mountains or swimming in the sea, or eating. I'm very good at eating, haha. A Level 5 TEFL certified educator coming up to 8+ years of teaching experience. I have taught ages 6 to 58 from all over the world. As a multilingual and multicultural person myself, I have had the same struggles in my own native language of English. But going back to my British roots allowed me to discover an easier path to learn and understand English. In my years of teaching, I've discovered that people learn better and faster when 1. they actually enjoy it and 2. the lesson is personalised to them. So when my student tells me their language goals, my first step is to find their personal language strengths and weaknesses to create a personalised learning routine and lesson plan so that they can reach those language goals as fast and as easy as possible.
