My name is Thandiwe, and I come from a country called Zambia. I am 30 years old, and I am a Certified TEFL teacher. My hobbies are cooking, dancing, traveling and watching movies. I currently teach English to the children in my community. Although I am yet to possess experience in teaching formally as a teacher, my experience in helping non-English native speakers allowed me to get familiar with teaching English. Other than teaching classes as my main task, I also spend time with some students who need help with certain issues they face when learning. I always give simple advice to my students. This is to let them figure out a way that suits them best because the learning process for everyone is different. My teaching style focuses on the practical use of language, with the primary goal being to develop communication skills. During lessons, students will engage in role-playing, discussions and tasks that simulate real-life situations. Because of this method, students will be able to express their thoughts more quickly and feel more confident when speaking. My other teaching style focuses on fully immersing students in the English language. During lessons, English will be the only language used. No translation into the native language is allowed. The idea of this method is that students learn the language in the same way as young children, for whom English is their native language. This method actively develops listening and speaking skills, as students are constantly exposed to spoken English and practice it, getting used to the English-speaking environment in the classroom.
