I am a Filipino, from Cebu City Philippines but currently residing in Malaysia. I worked in Dubai, United Arab Emirates 4 years ago as a Guest Service Executive.
I am 40 years old. I love travelling, meeting people while learning and embracing new cultures and diversities. I gained a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, however, after I graduated I got the chance to be an ESL instructor and got inspired by the students who acknowledged and complemented my teaching skills and abilities to develop, progress and achieve their goals in learning English. I always love to add value and contribute a positive impact to the students' lives through my teaching skills, determination and passion.
I worked as an ESL instructor at the top English Academies in Cebu City, Philippines namely Cebu Pacific International Language Services and English Fella and a couple more academies for almost 5 years in total catering kids and adults -Chinese, Japanese and mostly Korean students thru 1-1 and group classes, not to mention, night classes outside the academy and online tutorial when students are back to their countries. I got a good recommendations from students that made my schedule full. My students stayed with me from day 1 until their last day and that inspired me to maximize my teaching skills, tools and methods.
I do have an employment ESL Certificates for reference.
I was assigned in the speaking department where I focused on developing and building students' confidence in speaking English while taking notes of the grammar mistakes and mispronunciation and correcting it after the conversation. I tried not to interrupt student's focus for them to build confidence. Familiarized them with vocabularies and and let them use it at the specified topic. My goal is to maximize learning potentials and encourage students to speak English in my class 80% of the time while mine is 20% to facilitate and correct mistakes. Each day I introduce 1-2 phrasal verbs or idiomatic expressions for them to practice and apply. My topics depends on their interest and needs, thus, providing a fun and interesting learning experience.
