2. About Yourself
My name is Karunya Naik, I am a young South African woman. I grew up in a small town on the north coast of Kwa Zulu Natal called Verulam. I come from a Hindu family. Growing up I lived with my parents and my older sister. I was raised to be a honest and trustworthy individual. In my primary school days, I attended Brownies and later in high school I then became a Girl Guide. This definitely prepared me for the outside world, as I learned many life skills. I was a very friendly little girl and loved to make new friends which I still love . I am a very positive, strong minded ,hardworking and patient individual. I am extremely responsible and always punctual. I believe I would rather be very early than be late. As a little girl I was a tom boy but my best part of play was "Pretend play".
I would have a corner in my room where I will get all my dolls and teddy bears together and have a classroom set up.
3. My experiences

4. Your lessons and teaching styles.
What can students expect from your lessons? What do you focus on?
As a teacher creating a safe classroom environment is very important. Learners need to feel comfortable and happy and enjoy the prepared classroom environment where they can explore and practice their English. I make sure I choose correct lesson plans and that they are well though out. It needs to be age appropriate, the learners level of understanding. And that all necessary materials are available. I have a hands on approach by giving learners individual attention. This makes them feel special, they feel encouraged and that they are apart of something as this allows them to reach their full potential. I constantly use my imagination as this allows us to take a risk ,be free and children want freedom in expressing themselves. I encourage learners to voice their opinions and concerns and not to sit back and be afraid to ask questions.
