Hello, my name is Bianca. I am a South African. I come from a family of 6; I have 3 sisters and I'm the middle child. During my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, as well as babysitting my nieces and nephews. I love reading and have recently developed a love for horses, so I look forward to the day I can continue horse riding lessons again. I have qualified in obtaining a national diploma for ECD, specialising in Montessori education for 3–6-year-olds. I am also TEFL certified to teach English, however, English is my native language. I am a quick learner when it comes to learning a language. It will bring me great joy to be able to teach learners to speak and write English fluently, as this is something I am capable of teaching them. Languages is also a great interest and strength of mine. I have a tremendous love for children, and even though I am a very serious person, I also know how to have fun. I am very compassionate, but can also be firm when needed.
I am well experienced in teaching 2–6-year-olds in a preschool setting, as I have been teaching for the past 9 years. During this time, I obtained my national diploma in ECD with a specialisation in Montessori education for 3–6-year-olds. Prior to that I obtained a level 5 ECD certificate, where I acquired knowledge on how to facilitate learning in Grade R, how to observe and report on child development and how to develop a learning program with special needs learners. I have also obtained experience in assisting Grade 1-3 learners with English homework in the afternoons, where I taught them Phonics, how to read and write. I later became a Grade R lead teacher, where I incorporated CAPS into the Montessori setting. After completing my Montessori training, I also had the opportunity to teach an autistic learner with his schooling at a Montessori school. My aim would therefore be to teach English as a major subject, on the online platform, to children aged 2-12 years.
My teaching style incorporates the Phonics Approach. This approach teaches learners how to match the letters to their corresponding sounds, and how to put different letters together and the rules for sounding syllables and words, to eventually form sentences. Children learn through imitating others and that is why it is so important to use the correct language when communicating with learners and offer them a rich vocabulary, in order to aid them in speaking fluently. It is also important to use the correct terminology when speaking to learners, so that learners learn to use words in the correct context. My lessons will be tailor-made to cater to the needs of each learner and their learning style, and I will use the correct terminology when teaching lessons. The use of flash cards, stories and rhymes will also be incorporated into my lessons to teach Phonetic sounds, reading and writing skills, in order to help each learner become fluent in the English spoken language.
