Hi there! This is Amin, an experienced English teacher who holds a Master’s degree and who is currently working on a PhD thesis in English literature.
Two years ago, I have transitioned to online teaching—and what a happy decision! One-to-one teaching is a pleasure.
As a child, I would always sit on our doorstep, watch passersby and wonder what they were thinking. Then I began to devour fiction, movies, series, stand-up comedy, and podcasts. I guess it all came from the need to satisfy that curiosity. Now, my job is to help people express what’s on their minds by offering them the necessary tools and showing them how it’s done.
In addition to English, I speak Arabic and some French.
I've started teaching English 9 years ago, taught all ages and levels in our local schools. Two years ago, I started teaching online with Apprentus.com. My re-booking rate was very high. Victor, for example, a learner from Switzerland, had 157 hours with me.
My teaching approach is designed to develop communication skills above all. We may watch or read materials, such as videos, articles, stories, songs or poems then discuss them; we may act out situations from everyday life; we may play conversations games; we may take positions and practice debates. However, this doesn’t mean that we just practice speaking. I also have to make sure that the learner is not running in a circle. I’m here to ensure that they do not keep repeating the same mistakes or keep using the same expressions over and over in conversation.
In order to keep making progress, I take my student on a journey that involves:
• Improving their grammar.
• Fixing their pronunciation.
• Enriching their vocabulary by learning to use new words and common idioms.
Because of my academic specialty, I also help with academic writing and creative writing.
