Amanda Ngcobo

My name is Amanda and I'm looking forward to meeting and working with you. I'm currently studying towards a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Geography and Environmental Management with particular interest in education, business and fitness and science.I grew up in Durban, and I've always been fascinated by the world around me. I love to travel and explore new places, and I'm always eager to try new things. In my free time, I enjoy listening to podcasts and taking online courses to upskill myself as I am always looking for new ways to challenge myself and grow , especially in the GIS (Geographic Information Systems) field. I possess a certificate in teaching English as a second/foreign language and my teaching experience began in 2020 where I tutored classmates on subjects such as English and Economics and later ventured into tutoring online in platforms such as superprof in the subject of Geography till today. I’ve been exposed to different types of students and have acquired adaptability as a skill needed in my line of work which makes my work commendable. My classes are designed to be fun and interactive. I use different methods to teach English, such as telling stories, playing games, using pictures and videos and project based learning to apply language skills in creative and practical ways. I believe this helps students understand and remember new words and ideas better. I also give my students opportunities to practice speaking in different situations as this helps them become more confident and comfortable with using English.
