I am Alex born in Ghana and currently living in South Africa. I have qualifications such as Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences, Diploma in Education and TEFL certificate. I have been teaching for the past twenty-three years. I have taught learners from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds from South Africa for the past seventeen years. I have transformed many learners' fears into courage, their hesitation to speak into fluency. My journey as a teacher has taken me through a variety of experiences, both delightful and challenging and those experiences makes me tenacious as a teacher. Learner advancement is my goal. I am very fluent in English, hardworking, dedicated to work. An effective contributor, a team player and able to work effectively with or without supervision. I am open to learning innovative ideas as technology keeps advancing. I enjoy reading articles, listening to instrumental songs, and going to the gym for exercises.
I have been teaching history and Mathematical Literacy to high school students in South Africa for the past seventeen years. I held a Deputy Principal's position at Ltt Murunwa Private School in South Africa for ten years. I taught learners how to write essays and answer comprehension questions. My learners have achieved excellent results with distinctions over the years in History and Mathematical Literacy. I have received excellent award certificate for achieving 100% pass rate in history and distinctions in Mathematical Literacy. I have also been teaching Mathematical Literacy online for the past two years. I managed online school management system for a private in South Africa for three years. As an assessor and a moderator, I allowed students to demonstrate their mastery of an outcome-based assessment and offered appropriate feedback to leaners to improve their academic performance. I have facilitated discussions, encourage critical thinking, and ignited curiosity through debates.
My approach to teaching is to prepare and deliver lessons that are aimed at improving individual learner's reading, writing and conversational skills. This approach enables me to know my learners better and offer appropriate individualised support to learners. It is okay to make mistakes as these help us to learn and perfect our speaking and writing skills. I allow learners to demonstrate their mastery through practise of the subject matter. As a facilitator, I step back and allow students to find their way along the language journey, whilst monitoring and motivating as needs be. I account for differing language ability levels and varying backgrounds, interest and needs embracing a multicultural perspective in the planning and encouraging this in the learning process. Setting out the roadmap for the lesson and organising all the tasks and activities for all the learners. Ensure effective classroom management to enhance effective teaching and learning process. Limit teachers talk time.
