Hi, my name is Samantha! Something about me? Hmmm... I have lived in 11 different states growing up, but I have never been out of the country. I taught myself Spanish at the age of 10 but, decided to study the language my final year of high school. I think I learned a lot more surrounding myself with people who spoke the language natively and I also have learned about different cultures. Let's see... I enjoy eating all different types of food and trying new foods. I am obsessed with Harry Potter, I like to read, I would love to travel, and I love people. I started off as my own teacher at the age of 10. I started translating the back of shampoo bottles, watching Tela Novelas, and purposefully seeking friends who spoke Spanish. I really put myself into it and never stopped. Spanish came easy to me for some reason, and I have loved every minute of it. When I was in High School, I had to take a foreign language and all they offered at the time was Spanish. Thankfully, I was able to test out of 3 years' worth of Spanish classes. However, my senior year of high school, I had to actually take Spanish 4 to graduate. While I was in high school, I did teach 3rd to 5th grade students in the ESL program my sophomore, junior, and senior years. In all honesty, whether you're learning English or Spanish from me, I feel like the best way to truly teach yourself a language (and make it stick) you have to fully put yourself in the language. I will ask you to practice all the time, I will recommend books, I will ask you to label things in your home, office, or dorm room. We will learn all the technical aspects of each language, but I will challenge you and I will get your out of your comfort zone. Because in my belief, that is truly the ONLY way to learn a language and have fun doing it.
