Hello there, you curious language adventurer!
My name is Tinatin. :) I am from Georgia and a Bachelor of Arts student in International Relations at Webster University. While international affairs is my primary field of study, my passions extend beyond that. I have a genuine passion for teaching, which began during my time as an ESL volunteer and continues to grow as I now teach debates and communication at an International School. There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping my students reach their full potential.
I have four years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages—both as a volunteer and as a freelance ESL tutor employed by various organizations. I have a certification from the University of London in Practical ESL teaching with Technology. Moreover, while teaching debates and communication at a school, I developed my own syllabus and designed materials specifically tailored to my lessons and plans. Creating custom resources allowed me to better address the unique needs of my students.
English, for me, is more than just a subject; it's a tool for opening doors, connecting with a new world, and expressing oneself fully. In my experience knowing English has given me many new opportunities such as doing an Internship at the United States Embassy and at the United Nations Association of Georgia - considering this I have experience working with native speakers, so I can guide you through how to use English in a professional environment as well.
My tutoring philosophy is rooted in discipline and equality. When studying a new language my students must be involved in the lesson planning process, we have to figure out TOGETHER what their lessons will be like, try out bunch of new things and see what fits. With that said, I believe that consistent effort and dedication are the keys to success. I always tell my students that "discipline will take you places where motivation can't" (and myself included haha). However, when it's necessary I can give my students that extra nudge that's needed for their learning process.
My favorite part of my lessons is the speaking sessions! I love diving into all kinds of topics with my students, getting to know each other better, and building a connection through conversation. So, let’s chat and see where our discussions take us!
