I could say the same for the English language, which I have defined as food for the soul. It is much more than just a language; it is a culture and a lifestyle, it enriches your soul by taking you into different spheres and dimensions of life, in fact, in my opinion, the English language is the cornerstone and the string that enables you to understand and connect to different cultures and lifestyle around the globe. It breaks the barriers of diversity and fosters a sense of unity. This clearly shows again why the English Language is not just a means of communication but a powerful force that shapes the way we understand the world. The English language remains versatile, and there is an evident beauty in its adaptability. It gives me so much joy to see and to witness the number of people who are interested in and have invested in learning this prestigious language. it is definitely worth it!

This statement means that the English language evolves as man is evolving; it continues to be reshaped and reinvented by those who speak it, so there is no one way of speaking English. Another reason why the statement by Derek Walcott stuck with me is because it invites non-English speakers into the family to join at the table of the English language because English belongs to everyone. So, even if you may not be a native or fluent speaker, YOU CAN BECOME ONE. If you are unable to pronounce certain words correctly, there is absolutely no need to be ashamed of the way you speak because the English language is a family. Family members will not laugh at you when you make mistakes but will correct you and put you on the right path. It is safe to say that the English language serves as a connecting bridge for individuals from diverse backgrounds, which magnificently transforms into the exchange of ideas, cultures, and even experiences.
