How to Become the Most Confident English Speaker Using Imagination

So, how can you get to a level of speaking super fluent and rich English? Well, that’s a great question. It starts with both how insecure, and how confident you feel in your skills. Many people say, “I speak very bad English.” Although you’re admitting your weakness, it’s very important to let go of this limiting belief. The first step to speaking English with great fluency in confidence is letting go of this belief, even if it is true.

Now, what do you imagine you sound like when you speak English with great fluency? What do you look like? I want you to portray this when you begin to speak. The first and most important key is imagination. You have to imagine that you are confident in yourself when you speak in English. Write about it in a journal. Write about the version of yourself that is a great English speaker. Then, to follow up on that, you need to tell yourself every day, “I’m great at speaking English!” and you’ll see great results. Act, Do, And Believe!

Here are the next great keys to implement in order to ensure great fluency and confidence. Confidence is key. I recommend getting out and meeting new people, being confident, approaching people, and starting conversations. I did this when I moved to Colombia, and by ACTING like I was confident in my Spanish (that I barely knew at all at first), I began to sound and speak more fluently. Within just a few months of always acting and believing to be confident, my Spanish grew better, and many people began to tell me, “You speak great Spanish!”. Now I fluently speak both English and Spanish!

In conclusion, allow me to leave you a few more keys that you can take with you. Build positive habits such as journaling, speaking to yourself in the mirror, saying positive things, conversing with native speakers, listening closely to native speakers while in conversation, listening to podcasts in English about topics you like, and getting practice through active conversation. Lastly, tell yourself every day, “I’m GREAT at speaking English fluently, and I’m very confident in myself!” and watch how much you grow!
