How I Prepared for My Licensure Examination for Teachers During the Pandemic
I was hoping that this exam would be over, but due to the pandemic, it was cancelled and scheduled to move to another month. On the one hand, I feel disappointed because I have to go all over again with the review guide, but on the other hand, it allows me to have more time to get more familiar with other topics that I haven’t studied yet. There’s a saying that “Practice makes you perfect.” Every day I would answer 150 questions...who knows? Some of the items from the test questionnaire might come out in the exam.
Helpful Tips to Overcome Exam Anxiety
1. We can share with our friends and family our concerns. They are the best people to talk to since they know you well. A friend of mine who has just finished her medical board exam can empathise with me and encourage me to do my best so that I don’t have to retake the exam.
2. Create a routine by arranging your schedule, whichever works best for you. Don’t forget to take a good rest and enough sleep, like 7-8 hrs a day if possible.
3. Think Positive. We need to let go of our fears and relax our minds. Accept situations that are beyond our control. Reject negative thoughts in your mind by not entertaining them.
4. Eat healthy food, drink lots of water, and do some exercise. Our mind needs oxygen, and it also needs some time to relax. Comfort food is like buying some of your favorite food to treat yourself. You might want to get some peanuts to sharpen your memory.
Finally, the day of the examination arrived. During that time, all I can say is that I was more confident because I was well prepared, and of course, with much prayer, I was able to take the exam and pass the exam. I am thankful that though it took me one and a half years to review before the day of the examination, all my hard work and perseverance were worth it because I passed the test.
