What do you call December 23? This day often marks the first day of the holidays. It’s the day that households around the world do their last-minute grocery shopping and finish putting the final touches on decorations and preparations ready for the big day.

In recent years, this day has earned itself its very own name: Christmas Adam.

Christmas Adam meaning

Christmas Adam’s name comes from a play on words. We call December 24 Christmas Eve because an “eve” is the evening preceding a religious festival. Eve also happens to be the name of the first woman in the Bible. She was created by God from the ribs of Adam, the first man. Adam and Eve are often mentioned as a pair, as they were the first couple on Earth, according to Genesis chapter two. It’s important to note that Adam came before Eve, which is why some people chose to use Christmas Adam as a moniker for the day before Christmas Eve.

It should be noted that this informal term is not yet in any dictionaries and is not widespread. In many English-speaking countries, this term does not exist, and even in America, only a small number of people are familiar with the expression.

What is the day before Christmas Eve called?

Did you know that there are other names for the 23rd day of the last month of the year? In fact, people across English-speaking countries call it “Christmas Eve Eve.” This may have started as a joke, but it actually makes a lot of sense as it is the eve of Christmas Eve.

An alternative name for this day is Tibb’s Eve or Tipp’s Eve. These names are used in Newfoundland, Canada, where the holiday is characterized by drinking and being happy to mark the beginning of Christmas. It also marks a couple of other occasions…

December 23 meaning

In most countries, December 23 doesn’t have any particular significance. It is often treated like the preparation day prior to the big celebrations on December 24 and, of course, the main event, Christmas Day itself, December 25.

In India, it is actually “Kisan Divas” or “Farmer’s Day.” It was the birthday of Chaudhary Charan Singh, India’s fifth prime minister, who was originally a farmer. The government decided to honor him and other farmers with this special day.

For over two decades, there has been another holiday on December 23: HumanLight. This secular holiday enables non-religious people to celebrate the festive season without encroaching on religious days. It is usually celebrated with candles to symbolize compassion and humanity, among other things. HumanLight has been recognized as a Humanist holiday by the American Humanist Association.
